If you own a Nintendo 3DS or just prefer collecting bananas on the go, then Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D is still an essential title to add to your handheld collection. If you also have a Wii, then the 2010 home console release of Donkey Kong Country Returns remains the definitive version of this already-classic in sidescroller platform gaming. But despite its minor flaws in the translation to handheld controls and use of 3D perspectives, platform games in the 2010s simply dont get much better than this.

Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D (3DS) Review | Marooners' Rock

Aron writes: "When someone says the name Donkey Kong to you, what do you think of? The first words that pop into my head are barrels, bananas, and HOLY CRAPHARDEST GAME EVER. That last little bit probably popped into your head too if you ever played the original Donkey Kong Country Returns on the Wii. Not only was it a fun little platformer with adorable enemies, but it is probably one of the hardest platformers Nintendo had ever released; it was hard because it was designed to be hard, not because it was made poorly. Fundamentally it was the games smart and solid design that kept me from buying a barrel for the sole purpose of smashing my Wii to smithereens."

12 Wii games that would work perfectly on 3DS

GamesRadar - Besides being a great platformer, Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D proved that Wii games could gracefully transition to the 3DS, utilizing the handheld to become so much more than a mere port. In exchange for some negligible graphical fidelity, it imbued incredible visual depth into its gorgeous levels and boasted a far more reliable control scheme. We'd go so far as to say that the 3DS version outdoes the Wii original--and it's got new modes and portability to boot.

2010 marked the return of Donkey Kong Nintendo consoles. Country Returns was well received and in addition to bringing back great ape brought gamers a challenge. This was not an easy game. Despite the visual was a nice game without any mercy punish us after two errors. For most beginners or those who do not really have the patience for a challenge Nintendo included the Super Guide. Donkey Kong Country Returns back again, now in the 3DS version at all similar to the Wii, but a little smoother, which will please many who criticized this aspect of the original game and the best way to captivate new players who will feel less frustrated and tempted to use the Super Guide that however useful it may be, play the game is usually a lot more fun.

Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D Review Back in the Swing in 3D

Added: 30.05.2013 3:17 | 9 views | 0 comments

The original Donkey Kong Country Returns on the Nintendo Wii was a breath of fresh retro air. Rather than continue the trend of gimmicky shuffle-ware games with Donkey Kong thrown in, Retro Studios and Nintendo decided to return to the original SNES formula that became widely popular in the 1990s. Complete with a higher level of challenge than New Super Mario Brothers, along with some fantastic level design, Donkey Kong Country Returns was a great game on the Wii. Now Nintendo is bringing Donkey Kongs latest adventure to the 3DS with some new changes that enhance the experience of the game. Its time to get back into the swing of things.

Ken McKown writes: Donkey Kong Country Returns was one of the few highlights towards the end of the Wiis life cycle. Capturing what made the original so memorable without having the developer responsible was definitely a challenge, but one that Retro Studios managed to achieve. Now, the title is getting a second life on Nintendos handheld with some minor changes that make all the difference. Those that skipped out on the original version definitely need to check out Monster Games magnificent port.
